Keukenhof and The North Sea
Sunday, Joerg and Lucia took us to see the tulips at Keukenhof, Holland. It was a beautiful, sunny day. Quite windy, but that's Holland. It was fun to stroll around to see all the varieties of tulips -- my favs are parrot tulips. We were there for about an hour and a half. We couldn't stay too long because, well, men just aren't into tulips the way women are, and it was getting too close to "Beer-thirty".
Joerg drove us to a beautiful seaside town. We all wanted to dip our feet into the North Sea, just so we could say we did. There were little kids swimming and playing in the water like it was no big deal. The water was soooo C-O-L-D!
We had some beers, bitterballens, chicken nuggets, calamari, and spring rolls to hold us over until we got back to Amersfoort. Lucia was the "DD" so she had a Shandy (Sprite with a little bit of beer).
Once we got back to Amersfoort, we went to a Greek restaurant that had wonderful food. Michael and I had gyros since we haven't had one in ages. Mmmmm! Since Monday was Queen's Day, the town had a band in the square and we had more beer and listened to them. Good times!
Thanks to Lucia for the pictures here. I've either forgotten to bring the USB cable for my camera, or I've lost it somewhere.
We arrived yesterday in Antwerppen. We went for a walk admiring the beautiful architecture of old homes. Of course, I didn't have my camera with me! We passed by a restaurant/tavern and decided to have dinner there. Michael had lobster. The waitress was a bit shocked when he told her he wanted the entire lobster to himself. I had sliced pork with a pepper and caper sauce that was very nice. I did notice on the menu that one of their featured dinners was horse meat.
May 1, is a holiday here so I'm not sure what we're going to get to see today. We're going to take a taxi into the city center and just wander around. I've made sure that my camera is in my bag for today's adventure. :D
