Travel in the U.S. SUCKS!

WHH (Way-Hot Husband...someone please clue me in on how to do that cool underline thingy???) returned yesterday from a 10+ day trip to the U.S. for work and also to see our sons, Jimbo and Petee. He was exhausted. We've always liked to take the Singapore Air flight direct to Newark because it's just simplest. In my not so humble opinion, Singapore Airlines is THE best airline EVER! Oh yeah, and I don't think they should get rid of the "Singapore Girl" image either, but that's just me.

OK, I am easily distracted...The problem with him taking the direct flight to Newark now is that Delta no longer has the flight to ATL that departed only an hour or so after arrival at Newark. Delta is a cheap-ass airline who has paid off all of their sorry-ass "executives" who ran the company into the ground, but yet, have cut back on everything else. This means that WHH had to stay overnight in Newark, and then fly to ATL the next morning. A huge pain in the neck, lumbar, and ASS! Delta sucks BIG assholes. There...I said it, and I kinda feel better.

Anyway, WHH rarely complains. That is my forte, and he does his best not to usurp my authority in that area. However, there are exceptions to this, and yesterday was one of them. He came into our humble little office that we share and said, "I hate traveling in the U.S. It's just horrible. Every airport has their own fucking rules, and none of them are the same. I was able to take my personal stuff from Singapore to Newark, then to ATL. I leave Indy, and they confiscated my hair stuff, then I set off their fucking 'air machine'. Everyone was scrambling around saying shit like, 'Don't move! Stay where you are!'"

All I can say is, the United States of America better get its damn shit together! I mean it. Soon. It takes 19 hours to fly from Singapore to NY. Why would anyone want to fly to the U.S. to deal with that bullshit? Honestly, people are just going to say, "Fuckit, I'll go to Asia, Europe, or [insert any other place--Mars?] instead!"

While I was not impressed with the looks of Bangkok airport, we were not harrassed nor made to feel like criminals. That is just not the case in the U.S. I've seen those TSA people treat people with limited English as if they were less than human -- shouting at them as if that would help the terrified person actually understand their instructions.

Anyone who has traveled outside of the U.S. in the last 6 years can tell you, travel in the good ol' U.S. of A. SUCKS.

Hear hear sista! I DREAD going to the US because it just sucks ass.

Tourism to the US has dropped 20% because of the horrible rules, regulations and treatment of travelers. And this even with the low US dollar!

If the US doesn't get it's stuff together, they are going to end up being this isolated, backwards country with no idea of how the world works.
Oh, wait, we're already there.

Karla, thank you very much for validating our observations with actual statistics.

I know too many people who are happy and content to leave things the way they are...not even considering the things that been given up over the last 6 years. What will it take to wake up the citizenry of America?

Must one become an ex-pat to actually CARE about our country? I'm just asking...

I wish I could disagree with you, but you are dead-on. Sad indeed.
